East claims North Mississippi Soccer All-Star games

The North Mississippi Soccer All-Star Game took place at Tupelo High School Thursday night, and while the West teams that included DeSoto County didn’t come up winners, local players impacted the outcome on the turf.

In the boys game, Osvaldo “Gordo” Macias of Hernando became the West All-Star MVP with a goal in a 3-2 loss to the East All-Stars. Obed Medina of Horn Lake also scored for the West in the contest.  

Frank Rodriguez of Itawamba Agricultural High School scored two goals for the East and Luis Guerrero of North Pontotoc tallied the other goal. Rodriguez was named the East MVP in the contest.  

On the girls side, Caroline Chandler (Tupelo), Addison Johnson (Tupelo Christian), and Lauren Brown (Caledonia) scored goals for the East in a 3-1 victory over the West. Hernando’s Emeline Smith scored the lone West goal in the game.

Chandler was named the East MVP and Katelyn El-Beck of DeSoto Central was tabbed as the West All-Star MVP.
