DeSoto County players named to Mississippi high school all-star football rosters

JACKSON, Miss. – Rosters for two of Mississippi’s most prestigious high school football showcases were announced Wednesday, and four DeSoto County standouts have earned the chance to represent their schools on the big stage.

Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Classic

DeSoto Central quarterback Eric Perry, Lake Cormorant cornerback Raderrion Daniels and Hernando placekicker/punter Will Uselton were named to the Mississippi roster for the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Football Game, an annual postseason contest that matches the state’s top seniors against their counterparts from Alabama.

The series, first played in 1988 at Mobile’s Ladd Memorial Stadium, has grown into a December tradition featuring future collegiate and professional players. The 2025 edition is set for Saturday, Dec. 14 at noon at Hancock Whitney Stadium, home of the University of South Alabama in Mobile.

The game is organized jointly by the Mississippi Association of Coaches and the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association. Beyond bragging rights, the contest serves as a showcase for recruiting exposure and a celebration of high school football excellence in both states.

Bernard Blackwell North/South All-Star Game

In addition, two more DeSoto County seniors were chosen for the Bernard Blackwell North/South All-Star Game, which pits the top players from Mississippi’s northern and southern regions.

Tylen Matthews of Lake Cormorant and Linkin Sanders of Horn Lake will suit up for the North squad in the matchup scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Milner Stadium in Gulfport.

The Bernard Blackwell game, organized by the Mississippi Association of Coaches, dates back more than 75 years. It features 45-man rosters from each side, ensuring representation from across all MHSAA classifications. A pre-game banquet and community events in Gulfport round out the celebration.
