Woman dies during processing in county jail

A woman being processed at the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center in Hernando after a traffic stop on drug charges has died.

Identified as Tiffany Allen, she was pulled over by deputies on Friday night and during the stop, drug paraphernalia was found, resulting in an arrest on drug-related charges. Once brought to the jail, concealed contraband was also found, officials said.

While in her cell, Allen was found unresponsive and CPR efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking further into the case as part of its inquiry.  Officials did not provide additional information about the traffic stop, where it happened, and Allen’s address and age.

If more details are provided, we will include them here in this story.
