Water Tower Festival set for Saturday in Hernando

Saturday, Sept. 23 is the annual Water Tower Festival filling the Courthouse Square in Hernando.

Featured again this year during the free event will be arts and crafts, along with business vendor booths, all between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce puts the festival together, stating most everything you can think of can be found at the event.

There will be a Kids Zone in front of the library, a bounce slide for the kids, and the Mississippi Army National Guard will also offer fun games and activities.

Also part of the festival will be a BBQ Rib Cook Off contest.

“We are so excited for this weekend with so many exciting things going on for the entire family,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sibonie Swatzyna.

The name of the festival goes back to the Hernando Water Tower, built in 1925, which is an iconic symbol of the DeSoto County seat and for nearly 20 years.

Legacy New Homes is this year’s presenting sponsor. For more information, contact Sibonie Swatzyna at the Chamber office in Hernando.
