Water Tower Festival is Saturday

Built in 1925, the Hernando Water Tower is an iconic symbol of the DeSoto County seat and for nearly 20 years a festival has been held to celebrate the city and the water tower.

The free event will be held around the Historic Courthouse Square in Hernando from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. Several activities are planned, including arts and crafts and business vendors. A Kid Zone is to be set up in front of the Hernando Library along with the fun area from the Mississippi Army National Guard.

A BBQ Rib Cookoff is to be held just off the Square on Panola Street. Another event will be a Cornhole Tournament going on during the day.

The day will end Saturday evening at 7 p.m. with music from the group Twin Soul.

The Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce organizes the Water Tower Festival each year.  Legacy New Homes is this year’s presenting sponsor. For more information, contact Sibonie Swatzyna at the Chamber office in Hernando.
