Two hurt, charged in carjacking attempt
Two men are expected to face a number of charges in connection with a carjacking that ended with an accident with injuries Tuesday afternoon in Southaven.
According to the Southaven Police Department, the investigation into the case continues, but a police squad car came upon a carjacking in progress in the Walmart parking lot at 6811 Southcrest Parkway.
Two men in what police said was a stolen vehicle were trying to take another vehicle with a woman inside. The male suspects fled the scene and headed southbound on Airways Blvd.
The car the suspects were in crashed at the intersection of Airways and Church Road a short time later.
Both men were taken by Southaven EMS to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, where they are being treated for their injuries.
Police say detectives were in the process Tuesday afternoon of charging both men with attempted carjacking, felony fleeing the scene, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
