The Heindl Center for the Performing Arts hosts Queen Tribute Band, “One Vision of Queen”
Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Heindl Center for the Performing Arts is hosting One Vision of Queen: Featuring Marc Martel, one of the world’s greatest Queen tribute groups, on August 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Martel’s voice is iconic for reaching those peak notes that Mercury was famous for. His voice has famously been featured in the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” based on Queen’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury’s life.
“Marc Martel is without a doubt the best Queen tribute artist in the world,” said Kerry Goff, director of the Heindl Center. “His powerful vocals are note for note identical to Freddie Mercury. Combine that with Martel’s energy and it will be a night that will be magical.”
Martel got his start with the band Downhere, where he traveled the world and received four Juno awards. Afterward, he went viral on YouTube, earning him an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show which would spawn into an opportunity to sing in One Vision of Queen.
The show ranges from expected classics like “Somebody to Love,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” and “We Will Rock You,” but also packs some surprises in an electrifying performance.
The band is made up of Martel as lead vocalist, Mike Cohen on bass, Brandon Ethridge as music director and keyboardist, Tristan Avakian as lead guitarist, and Oskar Haggdahl as their drummer.
