Supervisors to move on medical cannabis ordinance

DeSoto County supervisors Thursday morning are expected to move forward on a Medical Cannabis Ordinance and Process during a special meeting that will start at 8 a.m. in the County Administration Building.

Supervisors discussed and heard comments about how medical cannabis dispensaries and other facilities would be regulated and zoned during its June 6 regular meeting in Hernando and voted to set up a committee to look further into the matter.

County Director of Planning Bennie Hopkins is to lay out the ordinance to the supervisors and committee members Lee Caldwell and Mark Gardner will add additional comments. Public comment will follow before a vote is taken.

Three other new business items are on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting before the board goes into executive session. The complete agenda is found on the DeSoto County Government website
