Supervisors, aldermen meeting notes

Here are links and a few highlights for governmental board meetings in DeSoto County; the Board of Supervisors meeting Monday, April 17 and Board of Aldermen meetings on Tuesday evening, April 18.  

DeSoto County Board of Supervisors – 9 a.m., Monday, April 17

Supervisors will hear from Shawn McKinney about plans for a Tour of Hernando Cycling Race, a review of business incentives requests, including Free Port Warehouse requests, and consider the resignation of Public Defender Louis Walker and vote on a budget amendment to advertise for filling the vacancy.  

Southaven Board of Aldermen – 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 18

Agenda items to consider include a resolution on a contribution to the DeSoto County Economic Council of over $27,000 and a resolution for Free Port Tax Exemption for RingCentral, Inc.

Hernando Board of Aldermen – 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 18

Hernando board members will vote on an estimate of $34,931.50 for the Jaybird Road Water Plant project, vote to approve an order for Motor Vehicle Tax collection by the DeSoto County Tax Collectors office, and also hold a discussion to move City Ward Polling locations.  

Olive Branch Board of Aldermen – 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 18

The board will consider a Water Service Funding Agreement and also have a discussion regarding the Sylvan Lake spillway. An item tabled from the last meeting will also be brought back, which is consideration of bids opened March 27 for Walking Trail Improvements. 

Horn Lake Board of Aldermen – 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 18

Aldermen will have one item on the new business agenda, which will be a request to approve and award a contract to Partain Construction Co. LLC for repairs to Fire Station 1, at a cost not to exceed $44,465.00, being the lowest and best bid received.
