Southaven upgrades Hal Guthrie Park with new playground, trail and pavilion

The City of Southaven said Hal Guthrie Park received upgrades under the Parks Enhancement Project that include new playground equipment, a walking trail and a pavilion.

The city said the park is located just east of Airways on Guthrie Drive.

The city said the park is named for Hal Guthrie Sr., an Army veteran who received a Commendation Medal for valor and a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. The city also described Guthrie as a successful developer and a well-respected member of the community.

The City of Southaven said it operates more than 20 parks located in neighborhoods throughout the city.
