Southaven police honor Lt. James ‘Billy’ Lance on Peace Officers Memorial Day
On National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Southaven Police Department remembered the more than 24,000 officers who have died in the line of duty, the department said in a statement.
The department said each fallen officer represents a story of service, sacrifice and dedication to the community.
The department singled out Southaven Police Lt. James “Billy” Lance, who was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 7, 1988, and said it would always acknowledge his sacrifice and honor his legacy.
The department asked the public to keep the families of fallen officers in their prayers and thanked those who acknowledged the department during National Police Week with acts of kindness, the statement said.
