Pandemic cancels Hernando Christmas parade

Recent moves to continue the executive orders for a mask mandate in public and social distancing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has forced the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce to cancel the annual Christmas parade for this year.

Chamber Executive Director Sibonie Swatzyna issued this announcement regarding the parade.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Hernando Christmas Parade scheduled for Dec. 7, 2020.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly. As we have watched the progress of this pandemic, we are taking advice from our State and local government to cancel our parade for this year.

We want to thank our community for your patience and understanding as we come to this difficult decision, but feel it’s in our best efforts to protect our community and our participants. We want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and looking forward to 2021.
