Over 500 new quarantines in DeSoto County schools

The DeSoto County School District Monday, Dec. 14 reported there were 54 new coronavirus cases and 525 new student quarantines in its schools in the past week, ending Dec. 11.  

Of the 54 new cases reported, there were five each at Lake Cormorant High School and Hernando High School. Four new cases were reported at Southaven High School. 

Among DCS schools, there 40 new quarantines reported at Horn Lake Middle School and also at Olive Branch Middle School.  DeSoto Central Middle School saw 35 new quarantines during the past week.  Southaven Intermediate and Hernando High each reported 34 new quarantines and there were 33 reports at Lake Cormorant High.

Among DeSoto County Schools staff members, there were 42 who received a positive COVID-19 test in the past week, according to Monday’s report.
