One dead, one hurt in morning crash
The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is investigating an early morning accident on I-55 involving four vehicles that killed one and hospitalized another.
According to a news release from MHP, the crash occurred around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nov. 10 in the area of Mile Marker 274.
A 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 52-year-old Sean Wilburn of Coldwater, heading southbound on I-55 collided with the rear of a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 24-year-old David Hornbuckle, also of Coldwater. That vehicle then hit the rear of a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Latoya Conley, age 37 of Senatobia and the chain reaction collision ended when the Conley car then struck a 1998 Freightliner driven by John Dunning, age 31 of Potts Camp.
The MHP release said Hornbuckle died as a result of the crash and Wilburn was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The southbound lanes of the interstate near the Coldwater River were blocked as a result of the crash. The investigation is continuing into the crash with the MHP.
