Know a teacher who goes above and beyond? Nominations for the DeSoto County Teacher of the Month are open now through Oct. 15, giving parents, students and community members a chance to put a spotlight on an outstanding educator.
DeSoto County Schools shared the call for nominations on its official news feed this week, encouraging families to nominate a teacher and tag them to “let them know how much they’re appreciated.”
What the DeSoto County Teacher of the Month Receives

How to Nominate a Teacher
Nominations for October are accepted from Oct. 1 through Oct. 15. To submit one:
- Where: Fill out the nomination form on the DeSoto Times-Tribune website at desototimes.com/teacher_of_the_month.
- Deadline: Thursday, Oct. 15
- Tip: Share specific examples of how the teacher helps students learn, grow and succeed. A strong, personal story helps a nominee stand out.
The program recognizes classroom teachers who make a difference for students. DeSoto County Schools is the largest school district in Mississippi, with thousands of teachers serving students in Southaven, Olive Branch, Horn Lake, Hernando, Lewisburg, Lake Cormorant, Center Hill and other communities across the county.
Celebrating Teachers Across DeSoto County
Recognition programs like this one give families an easy way to say thank you to the people who shape their children’s school days. Many winners are nominated by parents who saw a teacher’s extra effort firsthand, from after-school tutoring to helping a struggling student find confidence.
Nominations can come from anyone in the community, so parents and students may want to sit down together and write one before the Oct. 15 deadline. Tagging a teacher on the district’s social media post is another simple way to show appreciation.
