Olive Branch says it does not set Halloween trick-or-treating date

Halloween is observed annually on Oct. 31, which falls on a Saturday this year. The City of Olive Branch does not designate a date or time for Halloween or trick-or-treating, according to information published by the city.

Olive Branch’s annual Community Trunk-or-Treat is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Old Towne. The event includes trick-or-treating with Old Towne businesses and businesses across Olive Branch and DeSoto County, along with food trucks, inflatables and crafts.

A showing of “Goosebumps” is also planned as part of the Movies Under the Stars Series, beginning at 7 p.m.

Some neighborhoods reschedule Halloween festivities, and the city advises residents to confirm trick-or-treating dates with their neighborhood associations. The city also said porch lights can indicate that candy is being distributed, while residents who are not participating can leave their lights off.

For those trick-or-treating, the city recommends costumes with bright colors or higher visibility, or the use of glow sticks and flashlights. It also advises using sidewalks when available and going in groups.

The city urged drivers to use extra caution and drive slowly through residential areas on Halloween night. It noted that many area churches and businesses host their own Trunk-or-Treat events or fall festivals.
