Olive Branch promotes police Citizen Volunteer Program

July 9, 2025 – Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams, the Board of Aldermen, and the Olive Branch Police Department are strong advocates of Community Policing. In support of this direction, there is a group of citizens that are assigned to the Community Services Division of the Olive Branch Police Department.

These citizens make up the Citizen Volunteer Program (CVP) and volunteer under the direction of the Chief of Police or his/her designee. CVP members are not sworn police officers and perform only non-enforcement service-oriented duties on an unpaid volunteer basis.

They are subject to the same selection process of paid employees. The selection process includes, but is not limited to, an application and a background investigation. These individuals may come from various occupational and educational backgrounds. The one common thread is their desire to be a part of the Olive Branch Police Department’s goal of protecting and improving the quality of life of all Olive Branch residents. Members strive to volunteer at least 16 hours per month.

Citizen Volunteers contribute man-hours in the areas of administrative activities, residential vacation checks, and assisting the community with special events, such as the Christmas Parade, 4th of July events, etc. Other activities that the CVP provides include: Neighborhood Watch Organizations, and Meet and Greets held throughout the year.

If you would like more information about the CVP, or if you would like to volunteer for this program, please contact Major Carl Glass at cglass@obms.us.
