The City of Olive Branch Public Works Natural Gas Department is sharing natural gas safety reminders alongside a Halloween coloring sheet. The department advises residents who smell natural gas to leave the area and call 662.895.4111 from a safe location.
Residents should report suspected gas leaks or damaged gas lines right away and avoid open flames and sparks near a suspected leak. If a leak is suspected indoors, the department says to leave the building immediately and not operate lights, appliances or other electrical switches.
For fall projects, the department advises calling 811 before digging. The service is free and helps prevent damage to underground utility lines. The city directed residents to its natural gas safety and utility services webpage for more information.
