Olive Branch firefighters handle 25 storm-related calls, city says

Olive Branch officials said firefighters and emergency medical services crews ran 25 calls across the city during a brief but severe storm on Sunday evening.

Chief Clark, Deputy Chief Hogan and Fire Command staff thanked members of the Olive Branch Fire Department’s A shift for their response, the city said in a post.

The post said straight-line winds and thunderstorms caused multiple fallen trees, downed power lines and blocked roads. A photo attached to the post showed damage near City Hall at Pigeon Roost and Highland, the city said.

City officials said several residents remained without power at the time of the post and thanked Public Works, Northcentral Electric Cooperative and the Olive Branch Police Department for help removing trees, restoring power, clearing roads and managing traffic. The city asked drivers to treat nonworking traffic lights as four-way stops until power is restored; Mayor Ken Adams thanked crews and asked for cooperation, the post said.
