Olive Branch Fire Department has new trucks on order
Olive Branch residents can look for new fire equipment responding to calls in the city after action by the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday evening, Jan. 2.
Board members unanimously approved an application to the Mississippi Development Authority’s CAP loan program for $1.25 million to partially fund a 100-foot Pierce Ladder Truck that was approved for order in January of 2022 and is expected to be delivered during the summer this year.
City officials say the purchase was needed due to the city’s growth and a continued focus on public safety as a top priority.
Some of the city growth comes, of course, through the 2021 annexation of 18.5 square miles of land that was in the unincorporated area of DeSoto County.
That is not the only fire equipment piece that is being added, however. On order is a $930,775 Pierce Pumper, and a $1,364,300 Pierce Pumper.
One is expected to be delivered in the fall of this year and is for the Center Hill Fire Station that is currently in the property acquisition phase.
The other item is a replacement pumper and is expected to be delivered in the fall 2026.
All of these trucks were approved in the budget and each one is expected to serve the citizens of Olive Branch for many years to come.
