New scam impersonates Olive Branch police officers contacting for money

Scammers continue their efforts to falsely and illegally take money from people and residents of Olive Branch have become the latest targets.

The Olive Branch Police Department has been notified by city residents of a scammer or scammers claiming to be an officer for the police department.

According to the complainants, the scammer is requesting money from people they are calling.

The police department reminds residents that it will never request money or personal information over the phone and the recent contacts amount to an attempted scam.

Those who receive the call are asked to take note of as much information as possible (the caller’s name, call back number, date/time of call, etc.) and report this to the Olive Branch Police Department immediately by dialing (662) 895-4111.

Do not send money or provide personal information to anyone before verifying the caller’s true identity.
