Mississippi State Sets World Record With 41,819 Cowbells Ringing Simultaneously

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State University etched its name into the record books Saturday, as 41,819 cowbells rang simultaneously during the Bulldogs’ football game at Davis Wade Stadium, setting a new world record.

The synchronized ringing celebrated one of college football’s most famous traditions. Mississippi State’s cowbell tradition stretches back nearly a century, and the bells have become one of the university’s most iconic symbols, with beloved cowbells passed down through generations of Bulldog alumni.

MSU Student Association President Keegan Figueroa said cowbells are more than a tradition at Mississippi State.

“They symbolize the pride, passion and sense of belonging that bring generations of Bulldogs together as one, and hearing thousands of cowbells ring together in Davis Wade Stadium was an unforgettable moment,” Figueroa said. “I’m incredibly proud that the Student Association could help bring the Bulldog family together.”

The record attempt turned Saturday’s game into a celebration heard across Starkville, as thousands of fans raised their bells in unison to make Bulldog history.
