Man Arrested in Southaven Hit-and-Run That Injured 9-Year-Old on Bike
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — A man has been arrested in connection with a May hit-and-run crash that injured a 9-year-old child riding a minibike in Southaven.
According to the Southaven Police Department, the child was riding near Chesterfield Drive and Farmington North at approximately 2:57 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, when the child was struck by a vehicle.
Police said the driver left the scene and continued south on Chesterfield Drive. Investigators later identified the vehicle as a black Mercedes believed to be an S550 model.
Following an investigation and information provided by members of the community, police identified the alleged driver as Frank Burks. He was taken into custody Thursday, June 18.
Burks is facing charges related to leaving the scene of a crash resulting in injuries.
The Southaven Police Department thanked the community for providing information that helped investigators locate the person believed to be responsible.
