Aug. 12, 2025 – A man who was part of a 2022 Memphis shooting spree that briefly entered Southaven and DeSoto County is expected to plead guilty. Ezekiel Kelly’s attorney told WMC-TV Tuesday evening that he will plead guilty Wednesday in Shelby County Court.
Kelly was accused of going to various spots in Memphis and livestreamed his shootings and carjackings on Facebook Live. Three people were killed and three others were wounded during the spree. His actions caused police to issue a shelter-in-place order and launched a city-wide manhunt.
Kelly was accused of entering Southaven at one point and carjacked a vehicle from a Raceway on Stateline Road at I-55. He was eventually arrested in a stolen Dodge Challenger he had stolen. Law enforcement found weapons in the vehicle at the time of his arrest.
Over two dozen charges were accumulated at the time of his arrest, including three counts of first degree murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, carjacking and acts of terrorism.
An original trial date of July 14 in the case was scheduled but was postponed until February of next year.
Kelly also had charges in DeSoto County, where in November 2022, he was charged by a grand jury with receiving stolen property, armed carjacking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
