Lewisburg state volleyball tournament

The Lewisburg Lady Patriots take on the Greyhounds of Ocean Springs for the 7A state volleyball championship at A.E. Wood Coliseum at Mississippi College. Lewisburg looks for its second straight state title in 7A.

Ocean Springs serves to start the set and takes a 1-0 lead. Lucy Pepper serving and Ocean Springs take a 4-0 before a side out. Burchyett serving for Lewisburg.

Ocean Springs kill for a 6-5 Hounds lead.

9-6 Ocean Springs. Kill off a tip.

9-9 Lewisburg point for a sideout when a volley goes wide.

Newsom kill doe a 11-10 Lewisburg lead.

Parker ace for a 14-11 Lewisburg lead.

Ocean Springs gets five points in a row for a 16-14 lead and Lewisburg takes a timeout.

Sideout off the timeout gets Patriots within 16-15. Ocean Springs.

Violation makes the score 20-15. Another point for a 21-15 and a Patriot timeout.

Kill off the timeout gives Lewisburg serve back at 21-16 Ocean Springs.

SET 2

Lewisburg serves with Allie-Kate Hall to open the set. Ocean Springs take the 1-0 lead.

Becker kill off a block for a 6-4 Lewisburg lead.

Lewisburg thought it was tipped but a volley goes long for an 8-7 lead. Ocean Springs gets two in a town for a 9-8 lead. Make that three in a row when a volley is not returned. But Lewisburg gets the next point for a sideout at 9-10.

11-9 Ocean Springs with a kill from Anna Hoffmeyer. Net violation against Lewisburg makes it 12-9 but Lewisburg gets the next point for a sideout at 10-12. Lewisburg volley goes long for a 14-11 Ocean Springs lead and the Lady Patriots take a timeout.

SET 3

Lewisburg gets the first point on a sideout. 1-0 Patriots. Another sideout ties the set a 1-1. Exchanging sideouts, now 2-1 Lewisburg.

Becker kill ties it a 4-4 then Becker with a kill off a block for a 5-4 before an Ocean Springs point on a sideout. Now 5-5

Impressive rally goes to the Greyhounds when a volley goes long. Patriots get a sideout to serve leading 10-8. Sideout to Ocean Springs serving 9-10.

SET 4

Burchyett serving for Lewisburg. Ocean Springs fails to return volley. 1-0 Lewisburg. Patriots now off to a 4-0 lead in the set. A kill by the Greyhounds stops the string 4-1 Lewisburg. Sideout returns serve back to the Patriots at 5-1.

A block for a point for 6-1 Patriots. Ocean Springs finds an open spot for a point but the Patriots get the serve back for 7-2 lead and service.

A volley is not returned by the Greyhounds and Lewisburg now leads 9-6. Sideout gives service back to Ocean Springs at 7-9, followed by another sideout by the Patriots for a 10-7 lead.

A big block by Mary Barnes for a 11-7 lead for Lewisburg. Exchange of sideouts follows and Lewisburg takes a 12-8 lead.

Newsom kill off the block for 13-9 Lewisburg lead. Ocean Springs then blocks for a point and a sideout at 10-13. Lewisburg gets the serve back after a wide volley by the Greyhounds. Exchanging sideouts again, now 14-11 Lewisburg.

More sideout exchanges and score now 15-12 Lewisburg. Patriots get it back again for a 16-12 lead. Greyhounds get it back and then score a point off the serve. Now 15-16 Lewisburg and the Patriots call timeout.

Sideout off the time when block goes out of bounds. Another sideout gives Greyhounds the serve at 17-16 Patriots.

A big block at the net by Hallie Wright for a 20-16 Lewisburg lead and the Greyhounds call time.

Ocean Springs kill by Hoffmeyer off the timeout. Greyhounds serve but then Wright with a kill for a Patriots sideout. 21-17.

Big kill by Wright for a 22-19 Lewisburg lead. Greyhounds volley in the net for a 23-19 lead, but Wright scores off a block for a 24-19 advantage. A long serve gives the serve back to Ocean Springs.

SET 5 – FIRST TO 15

Ocean Springs serves and scores the first point. Hallie Wright kill ties it up at 1-1. Wright with a drop shot for a point, now 2-1. Ocean Springs kill ties it a 2-2.

Becker kill give Lewisburg the lead and serve at 3-2. Barnes kill for 4-2 lead. Barnes and Smith combine for a block and a 5-2 lead. Barnes volley not returned 6-2 Lewisburg.

Point Lewisburg off a block for a 7-3 Patriots lead. Hall kill straddles the net before going down. 8-3 lead and Ocean Springs timeout.

Patriots scores off a block for a 9-4 lead. Another point down the line for 10-4 Patriots. Ava Becker with an ace and an 11-4 lead. Another Ocean Springs timeout.

Long serve off the timeout for a Greyhound sideout. Greyhounds then score off the block for a 6-11. score. Patriots timeout at 11-7 lead. Patriots point off a block for a 12-7 lead.

Lewisburg win with a kill 15-8 and match 3-2 for 7A repeat championship.
