A known member of the Gangster Disciples from Southaven remains in jail after being arrested late last month in a joint operation, according to information from the DeSoto County District Attorney’s office.
Arrested was 22-year Kenneth Washington, who is also known as KJ da Shooter. Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, Southaven Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, also known as ATF, were involved. He made an initial appearance earlier this month and has another appearance on July 29.
Following this arrest on new charges of a felon in possession of a weapon, including a Glock switch, the DA’s office also promptly issued a hold and filed a petition to revoke his probation relating to a 2019 conviction for shooting into a dwelling in Mississippi.
Washington can now face both state and federal charges for the Glock switch.
“I commend the dedicated investigators from my team, Southaven Police, and ATF agents, for their relentless efforts in apprehending Kenneth Washington and revoking his probation. This dangerous criminal, who has repeatedly flouted the law, is now back where he belongs—behind bars, without bond,” stated District Attorney Matthew Barton. “Their dedication and collaboration are crucial in keeping our streets and businesses safe from lawless thugs like these.”
