Jennings receives scholarship from garden club

Elora Jennings, sophomore at Northwest Community College was the recipient of a horticulture scholarship during the NWCC Scholarship Social which was held on Sept. 28 at the Haraway Center in Senatobia.

This scholarship, which is awarded biennially, was provided by the DeSoto Civic Garden Club and available for all students to apply from the following counties that NWCC serves. The counties are Calhoun, Tate, Quitman, Marshall, Yalobusha, Tallahatchie, DeSoto, Tunica, Benton, Lafayette, Grenada and Panola.

In order to be considered for this scholarship, students complete an application process and submit it to the Northwest Foundation for consideration.  Currently, Elora is majoring in Forestry which is a part of Northwest’s curriculum in horticulture.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc.
