2nd UPDATE: All escaped inmates now caught

April 23 PM SECOND UPDATE: Late Saturday night, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department reported that the two remaining escapees from the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center has been captured. Jose Vasquez and Cesar Gonzalez were caught in Shelby County by its Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team.

We expect to hear more details about this on Monday when DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department officials speak with reporters.

April 23 PM UPDATE: The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department Saturday afternoon announced that two of the escaped inmates from the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center have been captured.

Cesar Martinez and Juan Monsivais are in custody after their arrest Saturday afternoon in Shelby County.

Jose Vasquez and Cesar Gonzalez are still on the run. The four inmates were in jail on drug chaarges.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department is actively searching for four inmates who walked away from the Adult Detention Center in Hernando today. The four were incarcerated on drug charges.

Late Friday afternoon, Chief Deputy Justin Smith released a statement that said, “There was a breech in our security, and we are investigating exactly what happened while we are exhausting all possible investigative leads to locate the inmates. We have a legion of detectives and fugitive personnel working on this.”
