Household Hazardous Waste Day on May 3

The annual chance for some major spring cleaning in DeSoto County is just a couple of weeks away.

The DeSoto County Board of supervisors and Environmental Services is holding its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, May 3. Hours are from 8 a.m-12 noon at the Landers Center in Southaven.

DeSoto County citizens, Homeowner’s Associations, and community organizations are able to take advantage of this once-a-year collection by clearing their household chemicals, including old paint, and electronic waste, from their properties.

Household Hazardous Waste is defined as unused or leftover products containing toxic chemicals. Any product which is labeled CAUTION, POISONOUS, TOXIC, FLAMMABLE, OR CORROSIVE is considered a household hazardous waste.
