Household Hazardous Waste Day 2025 announced

DeSoto County’s Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m.-12 noon at the Landers Center in Southaven.

Environmental Services is offering a safe way for residents to dispose of items classified as hazardous household waste. The collection event is a community service funded by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality in cooperation with the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors.

Hazardous Household Waste is any unused or left-over portions of products containing toxic chemicals. Any product which is labeled CAUTION, POISONOUS, TOXIC, FLAMMABLE, or CORROSIVE should not be disposed of with regular household waste.

  • LED Bulbs
  • Acids
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Chlorine Bleach
  • Flammable Liquids
  • Motor Oil
  • Antifreeze
  • Car Batteries
  • Lighter Fluid
  • All Paints
  • Pesticides/Fungicides/Herbicides
  • Poisons
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Tire Recycling: Limit of 5 tires per citizen.

  • Syringes
  • PCB’s
  • Compressed Cylinders
  • Explosive Materials
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Medical Waste
  • Waste from Business
  • Commercial Waste
