Fireworks to celebrate America’s birthday in county
DeSoto County communities have announced plans to celebrate America’s birthday and it will be four days of opportunities to celebrate and watch the traditional fireworks displays.
Hernando will kick it off on Thursday, July 1 with its Independence Day Fireworks on July 1 at the Hernando Civic Center baseball fields, 3800 Robertson Gin Road. The celebration will have food, family along with the fireworks display after dark. Not all of the details have been released yet and may be available closer to the date.
Olive Branch will be next with its Independence Day fireworks and festival on Friday, July 2 at Olive Branch City Park. Activities will start at 4 p.m. and fireworks will begin about 9:15 p.m. Live music with the 41st Army Band and a special appearance by the DeSoto County Ghostbusters will be featured, along with a Kids Zone, food vendors and more.
Horn Lake will have its Grand Fireworks Display and Festival on Saturday, July 3 at Latimer Lakes Park. Gates will open at 4 p.m. and the fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. The day will have live music by the 41st Army Band, a Kids Zone, food vendors and more.
The week will be climaxed by Southaven’s Fireworks Extravaganza and Festival on Sunday, July 4 at the BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove. Again, activities will start at 4 p.m. and fireworks will be at 9:15 p.m. Live music is being provided by Frankie Hollie and The Noise with a special appearance by the DeSoto County Ghostbusters. Food vendors and a Kids Zone is also going to be provided.
Fireworks were canceled last year for the coronavirus pandemic but as areas have been re-opened, people will be excited to get back to enjoy holiday events in person.
