Detour set up during Wilson Mill Road construction closure
DeSoto County officials said Wednesday that a road closure will affect drivers in a part of the county for the next couple of months, starting on Thursday, May 23.
It will be a section of Wilson Mill Road that will be closed for about 2-3 months during the realignment of a dangerous curve.
The Board of Supervisors approved the project, which involves the construction of about 1,400 feet of new roadway with related storm drainage infrastructure improvements.
A detour has been determined, which will include state Highway 301 and Starlanding Road. Detour signs are being placed to direct people around the construction.
Supervisors are aware of the inconvenience that will happen because of the road closure, but it is felt the road will be safer for drivers and school buses once the construction is completed.
Here is the map released by the county of the closure area and the detour around it this summer.
