DeSoto Democrats push for Harris-Walz support

DeSoto County Democrats have been busy in recents weeks gathering support for the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz presidential ticket. 

Invited party faithful traveled to Oxford on Sept. 13 to hear from Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Harris, during an event at The Jefferson, located outside of Oxford. The event was for the Harris Victory Fund, a committee that raises money for the presidential campaign and for Democrats. Former gubernatorial candidate Brandon Presley was also part of the event.  

Among those that heard from Emhoff was Dianne Black of Olive Branch, the Democratic challenger to incumbent Republican Congressman Trent Kelly in the November general election.  

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Democrats held a watch party for the debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump at Two Fellas Cajun Style Restaurant in Olive Branch. The watch party was hosted by the DeSoto County Democratic Party Executive Committee.  

Party officials felt Harris articulated her vision for the Presidency during a 90-plus minute long discussion.
