DeSoto Civic Garden Club scholarship awarded

Aug. 15, 2024 – Allie Crick, Scholarship Coordinator at Northwest Community College, has announced that student, John Duncan who recently graduated from Magnolia Heights in Senatobia, as the recipient of the DeSoto Civic Garden Club (DCGC) scholarship which would be applied to the 2024–2025 school year. Students from the following counties could have applied for the scholarship which include Calhoun, Tate, Quitman, Yalobusha, Marshall, Tallahatchie, DeSoto, Tunica, Benton, Lafayette, and Panola.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, students complete the application process and submit it to the Northwest Foundation for consideration. At Northwest scholarship recipient John Duncan’s plan is to study forestry which fulfills the requirement of the DCGC winner to have a major in some form of horticulture or forestry. This year the DCGC was able to provide funds for the scholarship through the club’s biennial fundraiser held in April of 2024 at Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando.
The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., the Deep South Region of Garden Clubs, Inc., and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc.
