County recycling sign up now available

With the switchover to a new garbage service provider in October, DeSoto County Government has announced that the new provider, Waste Connections, is now signing up customers in the unincorporated areas of DeSoto County for recycling service. Because recycling is not automatic – residents must sign up via this website: www.wasteconnections.com/desoto-county/.

Recycling service will begin Dec. 4 and will cost an extra $10 a month.

Waste Connections will take over trash collection starting Oct. 1. All customers will automatically switch to Waste Connections. Garbage service will be $17.50 a month, which will be an increase over the previous monthly charge. However, Waste Connections was the lowest bidder on the contract.
