Civil Air Patrol cadets receive rank promotions

A recent ceremony was held as eight cadets of the DeSoto Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol received rank promotions.

The promotion ceremony took place on Dec. 6 at the Squadron’s meeting location, Friendship Church of Christ, on Pleasant Hill Road in Olive Branch.

The Civil Air Patrol, which started in the early days of World War II, has been committed to service to America. It is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and was founded on Dec. 1, 1941 shortly before the Pearl Harbor attack on Hawaii. It has evolved into a premier public service organization that still carries out emergency service missions when needed — in the air and on the ground.

The eight cadets who received their promotions in Olive Branch on Dec. 6 were:

  • Corbin McRee
  • Mary Murphy
  • Orianna Akers
  • Kiersten Bible
  • Sarah Bryant
  • Kimberly Taylor
  • Olivia Vansteenburg
  • Joshua Krieger
