Saturday’s Blues for the Blue Crawfish Festival at Silo Square in Southaven was a big success for an enjoyable evening and to support law enforcement in Southaven and DeSoto County.

The festival, centered at the Silo Square clock tower, was a fundraiser for the Southaven Police Department’s Benevolence Fund and the Sheriff’s Office Blue Line Fund.

Both funds provide financial support to DeSoto County law enforcement as well as law enforcement across the state and their families.

The support in times of crisis may include food, medical assistance, supplies, or payments for uncovered medical expenses.

More than 500 people took part and were enjoying crawfish and listening to Mid-South Blues music groups.

At the end of the evening, a check presentation indicated $115,000 had been raised for the police department and Sheriff’s Office assistance funds.
