Blues for the Blue backs Southaven Police, Sheriff’s Department
Silo Square officials have announced the second annual Blues for the Blue Crawfish and Blues Festival will take place on Saturday, May 4 to benefit the Southaven Police Department, and new for this year, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department.
Last year with the support of sponsors and the community, Silo Square was able to raise $105,000 for the Southaven Police Department’s First Responders Benevolence Fund.
The Southaven Police Department’s First Responders Benevolence Fund works to help meet the special needs that arise in the lives of those who faithfully serve and protect us. In this role, the Fund provides financial support to Southaven law enforcement, fire personnel, and their families during a time of crisis that can include food, medical supplies, or payments for uncovered medical expenses.
In addition to the SPD’s First Responders Benevolence Fund, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department created the Blue Line Fund to support officers through education, training, and support when harm comes their way.
Officials said this is an opportunity to support local law enforcement as well as create memories with friends, family, and co-workers! Blues For the Blue will be filled with live music, drinks, good eats, and more. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Southaven Police Department’s First Responders Benevolence Fund and DCSO Blue Line Fund. All sponsorships include wristbands to the Blues and Crawfish Festival on May 4th. Each wristband includes all-you-can-eat crawfish and 4 drink tickets.
