Arrest made in stolen vehicle chase, crash

On Thursday, Jan. 2, Southaven Police located a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Swinnea Road from Stateline Road.

When officers initiated their blue lights, the vehicle refused to pull over and accelerated its speed. Southaven officers did not pursue the vehicle from this spot.

The vehicle continued to travel in a reckless manner on Goodman Road and then north on Airways. Officers were able to get positioned on Airways Blvd. to deploy stop sticks. The suspect vehicle made contact with the stop sticks at Airways and Stateline, then continued driving into Memphis. No Southaven officer was pursuing the vehicle.

Once the vehicle got into Memphis, the driver lost control and struck another vehicle that was traveling southbound. The suspects fled from the scene on foot.

Memphis police officers arrived on the scene a short time later and took over the crash and investigation. They were able to take one of the suspects into custody in a nearby neighborhood. Two victims from the crash were transported to St. Francis Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was identified as Jordan Franklin, age 21 of Memphis. He is being charged with felony fleeing and receiving stolen property. Franklin is currently being held at 201 Poplar in Memphis
