The Olive Branch Police Department stopped by Baptist Memorial Hospital to hand out donuts as a gesture to close out Nurses Week, the city said.

The Olive Branch Police Department’s school resource officers posted a message of thanks to teachers at multiple local schools and extended Mother’s Day wishes, the department said.

The Horn Lake Police Department announced this week that Capt. Strauser has retired after 23 years, praising his strength, patience and on-the-job humor.

Major Roberson said he received a suspicious text message this morning that referenced a non-existent Mississippi court enforcement office and included a questionable web link. He urged recipients to delete the message and not to click the link.

SPT said it will move in October to a new space next to DeSoto Family Dental Care. The organization said first-floor framing is complete and it will post construction updates on Facebook and Instagram.

The college said in a social media post that the ceremony honored the hard work and dedication of graduates and highlighted a pin symbolizing compassion and strength.

DeSoto Shred and The DeSoto County Brief will host a free community shred day Thursday, May 14, at 500 Stateline Road in Southaven, organizers said. Participants may drive up and drop off boxes not exceeding 50 pounds.

A government post says a National Day of Prayer event took place on the City Hall lawn at noon. The post thanked Jerrod Brooks for coordinating the event and quoted Mayor Ken Adams thanking participants.

Organizers announced a May Lunch and Learn featuring Brandyn Skeen on retirement, investments and estate planning. The event listing says Williams, Pitts & Beard, PLLC is sponsoring the event and registration is available online.
