A government post says a National Day of Prayer event took place on the City Hall lawn at noon. The post thanked Jerrod Brooks for coordinating the event and quoted Mayor Ken Adams thanking participants.

Organizers announced a May Lunch and Learn featuring Brandyn Skeen on retirement, investments and estate planning. The event listing says Williams, Pitts & Beard, PLLC is sponsoring the event and registration is available online.

Sibonie Swatzyna was named Outstanding Woman in Nonprofit at the DeSoto County Business Women Annual Lotus Awards, the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce said.

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen said Tuesday night the city received $750,000 with help from State Rep. Rodney Hall to invest in West End redevelopment and approved an EMS training affiliation.

Organizers said the weeklong program will teach songs, dances and performance skills and end with a family showcase. Sessions run June 15-19, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; spots are limited.

The Olive Branch Police Department and Mayor Ken Adams thanked nurses at Methodist Hospital for their dedication and compassion during Nurses Week, the city said.

Organizers said the luncheon on May 20 will feature keynote speakers Dr. Violiza Inoa and Dr. Neha Kumar. Seating is limited and registration is required.

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors and the City of Hernando will host a community gathering at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the fountain in front of the County Administration Building in Hernando, officials said.
