A blaze on May 13 heavily damaged a building at the Vineyard Apartments in Olive Branch, Mississippi, but no residents or firefighters were hurt, city officials said.

Craig Lafferty and Steven Bennett completed the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy, Northwest Mississippi Community College said. The college said the program prepares future higher education leaders and will strengthen the institution and surrounding communities.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that it remembered Constable Raye Hawkins, who was struck and killed in the line of duty in 2019 while assisting other agencies.

The City of Olive Branch announced that Michael McCollum has joined its Parks and Recreation Department, the city said. Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen issued the announcement.

Olive Branch police and fire officials say they responded to a structure fire at Vineyard Apartments and have secured the area while investigators work.

Lt. Steiner completed the FBI-LEEDA trilogy this week, his department said. The three-part program includes the Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute, FBI-LEEDA says.

The Gale Center said its sewing classes will teach practical skills for home decor, gifts and hobbies. Registration is available at the center or online.

Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce said it held a ribbon-cutting to mark Kirkland Creative Group joining the chamber.

The Olive Branch Police Department said it appreciated 662 Social’s work on a web page for its Camp B.U.I.L.D. and Camp S.H.A.P.E. programs and urged parents to register as the school year ends.
