New principals named for Horn Lake Intermediate, Southaven Elementary schools

Two new principals were named for Horn Lake Intermediate School and Southaven Elementary School during a special meeting of the DeSoto County Schools Board of Education on Monday, May 20. Both this year were assistant principals at other district schools.

The new head administrators named are Anna Claire Parker to Horn Lake Intermediate School and Leanna Clark at Southaven Elementary School. Parker this year served as assistant principal at Horn Lake Middle School and Clark was an assistant principal at Hernando Middle School.

Parker graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Studies (K-6). She continued her education at Arkansas State and received a Masters in Educational Leadership.

Parker spent the first nine years of her career as an eighth grade math teacher at Hernando Middle School. She worked as the State Testing Coordinator and Interventionist at Horn Lake Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year.

Clark served as assistant principal as an assistant principal and was in her third year at Hernando Middle School this school year.

She started her teaching career in 2004 in Hernando and will be entering her 18th year in education.

After 13 years of teaching second, third, and fifth grades, Clark became an assistant principal. The military relocated her family to Kansas and the Washington, D.C. area for two years where She continued her educational career.

Clark received her Bachelor’s Degree at Delta State University and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University.
