The Horn Lake Police Department is accepting applications for an emergency telecommunicator position. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. April 19, 2026.

A job posting on the city of Horn Lake’s website says applicants should expect night shifts, paperwork and public disputes, but adds the work is rewarding.

The City of Southaven said Jim Saucier Memorial Park, next to City Hall, was donated by longtime DeSoto County resident Jim Saucier and includes a pavilion, walking trail, playground and a waterfall often used for photos.

Officers from across the country gathered this week for the Fourth Annual Scotty Triplett Motor Rodeo, the Olive Branch Police Department said. Officer Qwazavia Lewis earned second place in the Novice Division, the department said.

The event aims to empower women in the community with networking, food, and business discussions. Registration is now open.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week recognizes 911 operators, call-takers and dispatchers, an agency statement said. The statement praised dispatchers for working nonstop during 12-hour shifts and handling high stress.

The Panola County E-911 Call Center thanked its dispatchers during an annual week that honors the vital, often unseen work of 9-1-1 personnel, the center said.
