Tunica deputies investigate fatal shooting

June 21, 2025 – On Friday, June 20, 2025 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a subject being shot on the 1100 block of Cypress Drive in Tunica, Mississippi. Upon sheriff deputies’ arrival, a black male juvenile was located unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Pafford and first responders arrived on scene, but tragically he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Tunica County Coroner, Glenn Grant.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office has detained two people of interest who are being questioned at this time. One is a 17 year old juvenile and the other person has been identified as 18 year old Decardous Davis, Jr.

This investigation is ongoing and the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking information related to this incident. Saturday, Tunica County authorities issued charges against Davis and the juvenile. They are as follows:

  • -First Degree Murder
  • -Drive by Shooting
  • -Conspiracy
  • -Shooting from a Motor Vehicle
  • -Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm within Populated Area
