Procurement cards available to teachers

Mississippi teachers are able to get some state help in purchasing school supplies for their classrooms.

Senate Bill 2422 was passed in the 2022 legislative session and signed by Gov. Tate Reeves provided for up to $25 million to be allotted for the cards, made available on Aug. 1 of each year before the start of classes. The total amount of money is more than double the amount provided for last school year.  The funding comes from Educational Enhancement Funds.

All teachers, including special education and gifted instructors, should have their cards for use before the Aug. 1 date.  A predetermined expiration date is to be set for usage that is no later than April 1 of each year.
