Aug. 18, 2025 – 2nd Chance MS, a Mississippi nonprofit, providing adult education, and workforce training, will host its annual “Party on the Green” fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 11 at The Isom Place, 1003 Jefferson Ave., Oxford.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will help raise funds for the organization’s mission of supporting adult education and workforce training for lower-income adults across Mississippi. 2nd Chance MS partners with the state’s 15 community colleges to provide financial assistance for students seeking to earn their High School Equivalency or workforce certifications.

Zach Scruggs, executive director of 2nd Chance MS, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Corporate and individual sponsorships of this event are critical to our ability to continue providing needed support to hardworking lower-income adult students throughout Mississippi.”

The “Party on the Green” will feature live music, food from My Michelle’s, an open bar, and a silent auction. All proceeds will directly support 2nd Chance MS programs, which provide assistance with tuition, transportation, technology, testing, licensing, and supplies.

Over the past decade, 2nd Chance MS has helped more than 2,500 individuals pursue their education and career goals. The organization has a proven track record of success, helping 1,146 individuals earn their High School Equivalency, 650 obtain Employable Workforce Credentials, and 876 receive Career Readiness Credentials.

This event aims to help students move from poverty to careers in Mississippi’s workforce.
