Highway Patrol issues holiday weekend recap
Four people died from traffic crashes in Mississippi over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP).
The patrol released on Tuesday its report on trooper activity from Friday through Monday at 12 midnight.
The four fatal accidents occurred in Stone, Washington, Claiborne and Yazoo counties.
Statewide, MHP issued 15,263 citations, made 375 arrests for impaired driving, and cited 1,615 motorists for seat belt violations.
The weekend saw 125 accidents that resulted in 49 injuries along with the four fatal accidents.
In the Batesville Troop E coverage area that includes DeSoto County, there were 1,651 citations issued, of which 158 were for seatbelt violations and 106 DUI citations.
There were 10 collisions that resulted in three injuries and no fatalities.
