First degree murder charge for Corinth man after missing man found burned inside vehicle

On Friday, July 8th 2022 an arrest was made in connection with the burned vehicle with human remains found inside on April, 28th 2022, on Cr 388 in Sharps Bottom.

During the investigation, the body that was found inside, and was later identified to be Jerry Wayne Thrasher of the Ripley, who had been previously reported missing.

Charges have been filed for 1st Degree Murder, and 3rd Degree Arson on 24 year old Gavin Cole Stanton of Corinth Ms.

Mr. Stanton was arrested and his bond was set at $ 500.000.00

At the time, the Tishomingo Sheriff released the following:

Tish County Sheriff John Dougherty called Tippah News back and disclosed that the vehicle is still being investigated and no ID has been made on the body inside.

The vehicle and the body were located late yesterday evening by some landowners in the area.

The Tishomingo County Sheriffs Department will be issuing a formal press release shortly.

A local man was reported missing to the Tippah County Sheriffs Department earlier this week.
