Extra day added to Mississippi State Fair schedule
July 30 – Today, Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson announced the 165th Mississippi State Fair will include an extra day of fun this year. The 2024 Mississippi State Fair is now scheduled to run Thursday, Oct. 3, through Monday, Oct. 14, at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson.
“The family fun will continue for an extra day at this year’s State Fair,” said Gipson. “We’re excited to announce the schedule will include Columbus Day, which falls on Monday, Oct. 14. So, all the students and parents off for the holiday will have the opportunity to enjoy another day of fair fun. The upcoming 12-day event will feature food, games, rides, vendors and all-new attractions across the expansive 105-acre fairgrounds. This year, the Mississippi State Fair is adding the Agri-Puppets and Tumbleweed Crossing attractions inside Frontier Village. The educational and entertaining puppet show, Agri-Puppets, tells a unique story focusing on agriculture and animals. The Tumbleweed Crossing show will take spectators back in time to the Wild West. In addition, an all-new Barnyard exhibit will be housed inside Barn 6 and will feature 4-H and FFA farm animals, star exhibitors and hands-on learning experiences.
For the first time in State Fair history, fairgoers can purchase general admission tickets and fair ride wristbands online. Pre-sale tickets are available now through Oct. 2 at www.msstatefair.com for $8 per person. Online tickets purchased after October 2, as well as tickets purchased at the gates, will be $10 per person. Nationally recognized artists including the Oak Ridge Boys, Matthew West and Dru Hill will perform during the 2024 State Fair. Also, Xperience JXN is putting on a special show, WE OUTSIDE but INSIDE Party, featuring LJ Echols, F.P.J., Big Yayo, Frank Johnson, Jake Carter, Kandy Janai and Breeze Mr.Do2Much Saturday, Oct. 12, inside the Coliseum.
